Description
Katie Flowers’exhibit, “Emasculate,” meaning “destruction and damage,”
is a series of images that use mixed media, painting, drawing and
photography to bring to the viewers the chaos, the horror, and the effects
of the aftermath of a devastating tornado in the little town of Joplin,
Missouri, on May 22, 2011. Wild and powerful, the raging burst flattened
the town and claimed 159 lives. Ms. Flowers aims to show people the
mighty of nature and the fragility of human beings when facing calamities
and uncertainties, and at the same time she invites them to compassion.
